The Power of Juicing: The object of juicing is for nourishment and partaking in a daily juice has many health properties (see below). Unlike a smoothie, a juice is not something that is necessarily sipped on and thoroughly enjoyed. If you want to start juicing, remove any thoughts from your mind this is a journey in deliciousness. It’s not. It’s for nutritional and hydrating purposes, if you enjoy the taste, that’s a bonus.
Sunburst juice is loaded with beta carotene. The body converts beta carotene into vitamin A – essential for healthy skin, eyes, mucus membranes & our immune system. Sunburst juice is also high in vitamin C – a powerful antioxidant, supporter of brain health, our immune system, helps iron absorption & can lower the risk of heart disease. It’s also beneficial to our skin, especially as we age.

Juice is more palatable if the fruits & vegetables are cold when you juice them. It is always best to drink the juice immediately after juicing. In a pinch, store in a jar with minimal air space one to three hours.
1 orange, peeled
2 red, orange or yellow bells peppers, halved & seeds removed (capsicum)

Add ingredients in the order given, into the chute of a juice extractor & collect the juice in a jug or glass. Makes about 2 cups.

One sure way to receive your daily dose of many essential nutrients required for optimal health for your body, is from the juice of vegetables & a little fruit, using a specific juice extractor that removes the pulp from the vegetables & fruit, leaving only the juice. This hydrating green juice is perfect first thing in the morning (or any time really) to hydrate you after a night’s sleep or a hot workout. It contains spinach, cucumber, celery, apple & lemon.
hydrating green juice
This juice will give you a lot of the hydration needed after a long night’s sleep. As well as much needed essential nutrients, easily absorbed by the body without the fiber.
8 oz spinach leaves & stems (250g)
1 English cucumber (telegraph)
1/2 bunch of celery, include any leaves
1 small apple, halved
1 lemon, peeled
Make sure to wash all the ingredients first. Tightly pack the spinach into bundles & feed them one at time, into the chute of the juice extractor along with the other ingredients in the order given, ensuring you have a jug to collect the juice. Makes about 3 cups (750ml).
Purple antioxidant juice made from beets, red cabbage, carrots, blueberries & red grapes, is a powerful juice that can aid in giving you a bit of a clean-out & help with overall health. We don’t suggest this juice to newbie juicers because of its antioxidant properties. But it’s a good juice & one to turn to after being sick, taking cold & flu medications &/or antibiotics.
purple antioxidant juice
This is a powerful juice largely in part due to the beets. Beets can really give your system a good clean-out & can turn your pee & poop crimson, so don’t be alarmed.
1 beet, trimmed & halved
2 carrots, trimmed of their tops
1 cup red grapes
1/4 red cabbage
1 cup blueberries or blackberries
Feed the ingredients, in the order given, into the chute of a juice extractor & collect the juice in a jug or glass. Makes about 2 1/2 cups.
Pineapple Zinger: Heady, tropical & sweet pineapple contains the enzyme ‘bromelain’ said to help arthritis, inflammation, nasal swelling & muscle soreness (give us a bucket of it will you!). We know bromelain as the enzyme that helps to break down fat. Pineapple Zinger Juice will hydrate you & as the name implies – will give you a nice lift. Containing cucumber, pineapple, jalapeno, lime & romaine lettuce – the jalapeno is surprisingly, not hot, but instead adds a fabulous little punch to the juice.

This juice will give you a much-needed boost in hydration & energy. Containing a jalapeno, it’s not particularly hot but if you’re concerned, then try a half to begin. This is one of my favorite juices.
1/2 small pineapple, peeled & cored
1 jalapeno, stem removed
1 English cucumber
1/2 romaine lettuce, quartered
1 lime, peeled
Feed the ingredients, in the order given, into the chute of a juice extractor & collect the juice in a jug or glass. Makes about 3 cups.

- can aid in weight loss
- better sleep (when doing a juice fast)
Juicing can be a game-changing for your health, so give it a try.
